I kinda miss the old format, where one person from each team was systematically picked off each week, so by the end, there was a top 4, with one person from each team. I think that format was much more conducive to the original premise of the show.
While I love the idea of “The Steal” in the Battle round and the Knockout round (also a good addition to the show), I think the idea that all the contestants from one team can be eliminated before the finals is kinda stupid. This show has become the “Shevine” show and it allows for people’s adoration for a coach to become the reason why they vote. It feels like the contestants are actually secondary to all the coaches and I don’t like that.
I won’t even get into the ridiculousness that is the Twitter Save. It’s a stupid tool and wholly unreliable. Hell, I don’t even think the show knows how to actually work it. I think they changed how it would work after the first week of live rounds. They can get rid of that shit.
Basically, they should have a Top 20, equaling 5 live shows. Or a Top 16 (4 live shows), I know they want to maximize profits, but c’mon now.
James should’ve went home a while ago, tbh. The fact that he was here longer than Matthew Schuler is ridiculous. He and, say, Ray were on the same level, but he was more twee. Nobody needs another Michael Buble. Sorry.
